Travel Around the Province
Sun Review June 3, 2000

Planning a trip this summer? Wondering where to send those pesky relatives? Check out these great B.C. travel websites and plan your next supernatural vacation online.

British Columbia's premier travel and tourism planning site is located at travel.bc.ca. You can book your accommodations online through Reservations BC, search all available properties by region, price, category and amenities, and review pages and pages of information about camping, activities, lodging, and transportation.

The BC Adventure Network (www.bcadventure.com) was originally created by two avid fishermen from Williams Lake who turned their hobby into an informational resource for anglers. The site has since grown to encompass more than 6,000 pages of travel and recreation information for everyone. Discover BC's flora and fauna, send a postcard, plan your trip, or explore the regions of BC online. If it's fish you're angling for, be sure to visit www.fishbc.com.

If Vancouver Island is your destination, you're in luck: there are many online resources to help you plan your dream Island vacation. The official guide to Vancouver Island and the surrounding Gulf Islands can be found at www.islands.bc.ca. Here you will find links to BC Ferries, community and even a distance calculator to help plan your trip. While you're there, listen to the sounds of whales and download Vancouver Island screen savers to get you in the right mood.

The Vancouver Island Abound Outdoor Pages (vancouverislandabound.com) are packed with adventure from whale watching to fishing to windsurfing, kayaking and scuba diving. Vancouverisland.com is yet another great resource, and also features a handy site search. If Victoria is your destination, visit Victoriabc.com and www.vits.bc.ca for the Victoria Visitors Guide.

If you're aching for adventure in your own backyard, take a canoe & winery tour with Winds & Rivers Escapes (www.windsrivers.bc.ca), a lesson in whitewater kayaking with SOS Kayak Adventures (www.soskayak.bc.ca), or try an Okanagan Mountain Bike Tour (www.okbiketours.com).
